GCSE German Revision

Follow the Oxford Revise approach and master German GCSE reading, writing and listening exams. Our expert team have developed an approach that breaks down the core knowledge into manageable chunks, alongside tips and support that really boost your skills.

You’ll find that the Oxford Revise guide is split into distinct areas – explore the three themes in depth, brush-up your knowledge of German grammar, then perfect your exam technique with plenty of exam practice. Within each area you will find:

  • Knowledge organisers: A Basics section gives you a solid base to get your revision started. This prioritises the most important content across topics.  There are example sentences that you can memorise or adapt depending on the activity you are doing, with English translations side-by-side. In the Exam section, the knowledge organisers include walk you through the paper with timings, so you know exactly what to expect on the day.
  • Retrieval practice: Did you know that repeated practice of these quick-recall questions helps to lock in knowledge and vocabulary to your long-term memory? The science tells us this works! So, use the Look, Cover, Write, Check method or ask a friend or family member to test you. Furthermore, working with other people can really help to check and improve your pronunciation.
  • Practice questions: These questions give you a flavour of what to expect in each assessment, and take you through common question types with suggestions for how to approach them.
