2026 specification updates
The exam board, AQA, made a few changes to the AQA GCSE French specification after the Oxford Revise guides were printed. We’ve added a chart to French Foundation and French Higher revision guide pages on this site, so that you can see what has changed and what you need to know!

How does Oxford Revise support your French GCSE revision?

Oxford Revise guides are split into different areas. Explore the three themes in depth, brush up your knowledge of French grammar, then perfect your exam technique with plenty of exam practice. Within each area you will find:
- Knowledge organisers: A Basics section gives you a solid base to get your revision started. These prioritise the most important content across the topics. There are example sentences that you can memorise or adapt depending on the activity, and you’ll also find English translations side-by-side. In the Exam section, the knowledge organisers walk you through the paper with timings, so you know exactly what to expect on the day.
- Retrieval practice: Repeated practice of these quick questions will lock in knowledge and vocabulary to your long-term memory, ready and waiting to be recalled when you need it!
- Practice questions: These questions give you a flavour of what to expect in each assessment and take you through common question types with suggestions for how to approach them.
- QR codes: Throughout the guides, QR codes take you to audio files for listening and speaking questions, answers and mark schemes and a vocabulary glossary.
