Top Tips for Business Revision
Helen Coupland-Smith and Stefan Wytwyckyk share their top tips for business revision and how to approach your exams.
1. Create links between Business knowledge topics
To revise means to actively review content you’ve already covered. The Knowledge pages in your Oxford Revise Edexcel GCSE Business guide make this easy, with each topic clearly summarised in just 2 to 4 pages.
Instead of studying each chapter or lesson in isolation, connect ideas across chapters and business functions. Building these links not only strengthens your understanding of how business works in context, but also helps you meet the strategic demands of the exam more effectively.
2. Keep Business revision active
Creating your own revision aids – like mind maps or flashcards – not only reinforces learning but also helps you retain key facts far better than simply reading from a book.
To stay engaged, revise actively: read, cover, rewrite and check key content. Follow the exam tips in each chapter to keep your revision focused and active.
3. Chunk it up!
Rather than revising all of the syllabus in equal installments, identify gaps in your own knowledge and understanding and focus on those areas – focus your time where it will most improve your grades.
4. Use practice questions to get familiar with the exam
Practising exam style questions is key to success. Your Oxford Revise guide will help you to do this on an ongoing basis with practice questions at the end of every chapter. In addition, you can access extra support and answers digitally by scanning the QR code on each Practice page – making it even easier to check your progress and refine your technique.
